The plot of those attempting to defame the famous pilgrimage centre of Dharmasthala in Karnataka has been exposed. About 2 months ago, a former sanitation worker in Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy Temple named Chinnayya appeared at a Police station. Chinnayya alleged that from 1998 to 2014, he had been forced to bury in the Temple premises more than 100 bodies of girls and young women who had been brutally raped and murdered. Importantly, he said that there are 17 such sites along the banks of the River Netravati where these dead bodies have been buried. Listening to his striking story, the Police immediately began an inquiry.
Please note that if after being assaulted by religious fanatics an ordinary Hindu goes to a Police station to lodge a complaint, the Police ignore him and make him sit for hours or send him back after insulting him.
At times, a case may even be filed against the aggrieved Hindu. When this be true, why did the Police’s sense of duty suddenly awaken based on Chinnayya’s words ? The answer was simple – Chinnayya’s target was the Holy Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy Temple. Moreover, the Congress, which is anti-Hindu, is in power in Karnataka ! To satisfy its antipathy for Hindus, the Government got and seized on the ready-made opportunity.

With a loud declaration of a thorough investigation into this matter, the Congress Government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). For the next 2 months, the anti-Hindu game that played out in Karnataka shook not only the State but the entire country. Wherever Chinnayya pointed, Police teams began digging.
Wearing black clothes and covering his entire face, Chinnayya became notorious in the media as the ‘maskman’. To show the public where this man would take the police for digging each day, cameras of TV channels were always ready. State-of-the-Art technology was deployed for the excavation; in some places, digging went as deep as 18 feet.
The progressive (in fact regressive) and communist gang, ever eager to spit venom against Hindus, became active. On social media, different videos were circulated to target the Temple.
Since reports suggested that women came to the Temple for darshan and later disappeared, questions were deliberately raised to confuse Hindus – ‘What exactly goes on in the Temple, what is happening under the guise of darshan’.
The attack was focused on the Temple’s Pattadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade and his family. After 2 months of such relentless propaganda, Chinnayya himself was arrested for misleading the Police. While the digging continued, his identity as the maskman had been kept secret, but after his arrest his fraud came to light. Discrepancies were found in his statements. Only after the Police showed him the power of their uniform did his game come to an end.
After this unexpected turn of events, the anti-Hindu lobby went into their silence mode and their falsehood has been exposed. Yet, the desecration of a Hindu pilgrimage centre has caused religious harm – how will this be compensated ?
Suspicion about the Police inquiry
As a practice, whenever a SIT is formed to investigate a major case, it includes experienced and efficient officers. In the Dharmasthala case, the conduct of the Police appears suspicious. Why did it take them so long to realise that Chinnayya was fooling them ? If they had checked even a little of his background with his divorced wife and the villagers, it would have been revealed that he is a liar who can do anything for money. Why did it take the Police so long to understand this ?
After Chinnayya’s complaint, the name of Sujata Bhat came in the news. She claimed that her daughter Ananya Bhat had gone missing from Dharmasthala. She lamented to the media that for years she went to the Police station many times to seek justice. After 2 months, it was revealed that she had no daughter named Ananya Bhat at all ! She admitted that she had misled society to take revenge because of a land dispute with the Temple. According to some reports, Sujata Bhat had links with certain Urban Naxals, and till a few years ago, the Police had been monitoring her activities.
Normally, when a missing person complaint is filed, basic checks are first made – who was the person, where did he / she study or work, etc. Here, the fact that Ananya Bhat did not exist should have come to light immediately. Why did this revelation take 2 months ?
In short, the accusations were false, and the accusers were fraudsters. Matters that could have been settled in a few days dragged on. Was this delay deliberate, only to defame a Hindu pilgrimage centre, confuse Hindus, and shake their faith ? Were the Police too a party to this ?
Action must be taken against the Media
Among those who maligned Dharmasthala, The Wire, News Minute, and some Malayalam and Tamil media outlets were at the forefront. A YouTuber, MD Sameer, even used artificial intelligence to spread fake videos about Dharmasthala. Al Jazeera, BBC, The Telegraph, The Guardian and other international media also used this issue to target Hindus.
Numerous reports around the world and in India have revealed that most churches and mosques have become centres of misconduct. Therefore, an attempt is being made worldwide to plant the thought in people’s minds that not only Muslims or Christians, but Hindus too have centres of misconduct. Hindus must be vigilant and repel the attacks of communists and ideological terrorists to save themselves from getting trapped in any conspiracy.
