Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission cracks down
Noida (Uttar Pradesh) – The Gautam Buddha Nagar District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of Central Vihar-2 in Noida to pay ₹1 lakh in compensation to a 4-year-old girl who was injured in an attack by stray dogs. The Commission passed the order taking into consideration the serious injuries suffered by the girl and the mental trauma caused to her by the attack. It also directed the RWA to pay an additional ₹5,000 towards legal expenses.
According to the complainants, their 4-year-old daughter was attacked by stray dogs in a garden behind the Resident Welfare Association’s office. A passer-by rescued the girl; however, she suffered serious injuries to her back in the attack. The complainants also stated that this was not the first such attack. Stray dogs had previously attacked senior citizens, domestic workers, working men and young people at the same location.
