US investigative agency had named him in ₹3.5 crore extortion case

Chandigarh – The Punjab Police arrested their own Police Inspector Gurinderjit Singh Nagra in connection with a ₹3 crore 40 lakh extortion case. The US investigative agency FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) had named him in this case.

The FBI had stated that Police Inspector Gurinderjit Singh Nagra was connected to an international extortion gang. He was involved in a conspiracy, along with gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and other criminals, to target Indian-origin families living in the US. Through this, an attempt was made to threaten people living in the US and extort approximately 4 lakh dollars (₹3 crore 40 lakh) from them. Some local accomplices also played a role in this entire network along with the gangsters, and Nagra was among those named.
Following this information, the Punjab Police transferred Nagra and initiated a departmental inquiry. Following this inquiry, Nagra was arrested.
