Prohibitory orders in Mumbai from 23 July to 6 August

Mumbai – Prohibitory orders have been imposed in Mumbai from 23 July to 6 August as a security measure. Mumbai Police took this decision as a precautionary measure in the wake of the Cockroach Janata Party’s agitation in Delhi.

1. Mumbai Police have imposed Section 144. The prohibitory orders will remain in force from 12.01 a.m. on 23 July until midnight on 6 August. Action will be taken against those violating the order.

2. Gathering of five or more persons will be prohibited. All types of processions will be banned. The use of loudspeakers, musical instruments and bands in processions, as well as bursting firecrackers, will also be prohibited.

3. Funeral gatherings and funeral processions to crematoriums or burial grounds are exempt from the ban. Legal meetings of establishments, clubs, cooperative societies, institutions and other organisations are also exempt. Meetings held by social groups, clubs, cooperative societies and organisations for carrying out their routine activities will not be affected.

4. There is no ban on cinema halls, theatres, educational institutions, government offices, courts, shops, factories or regular business activities.

5. Gatherings and processions that have been granted permission by the respective Deputy Commissioner of Police will be exempt from the ban.
