Islamabad (Pakistan) – Noreen Niazi, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has alleged that the conflict between India and Pakistan in May 2025 (Operation Sindoor) was the result of collusion between Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The objective behind this, she claimed, was to improve the image of the Pakistani military.

“What do you think ? Was a large country like India not in a position to give a fitting response to Pakistan’s attack on 10 May ? It could have given a fitting response; however, because of a mutual understanding, India deliberately chose not to take tough action,” alleged Noreen Niazi.

Following this, Pakistan’s cybercrime investigation agency issued her a summons and directed her to appear at its office for questioning. She has been accused of defaming the military through social media and of spreading false, objectionable and provocative information.

In an interview, Noreen Niazi downplayed Pakistan’s military action against India during the four-day conflict that followed the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. She also claimed that India did not escalate the conflict because Pakistan was taking steps towards recognising Israel. She further said that the entire sequence of events was aimed at paving the way for Pakistan’s inclusion in the Abraham Accords.

Pakistan is one of the countries that does not recognise Israel as a state and has no diplomatic relations with it. In contrast, under the Abraham Accords brokered by the US, diplomatic, economic and security relations have been established between Israel and several Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
