Ayodhya (UP)- The Cantt. Police arrested Lavkush Nishad, Rajkumar Nishad, and Jitendra Nishad for consuming mutton and alcohol while seated in a boat at Guptar Ghat on the holy Saryu River. The police took action and arrested the accused after a video of the incident circulated on social media. However, one accused is absconding yet. Saints, Seers, and devotees in Ayodhya expressed strong displeasure over the incident, alleging that the holy Saryu River had been desecrated and demanded strict action against those involved. Hindus consider the Guptar Ghat extremely holy as Lord Shriram ended his earthly incarnation there. Thousands of devotees worship Mother Saryu and bathe in the holy river daily.

Such a heinous incident had previously also occurred at ‘Ram Ki Paidi’

A similar incident had previously garnered significant attention. Last year, couples engaging in obscene acts were caught on the riverfront. The police had taken action against them as well and issued orders banning such activities.

Editorial Perspective

  • Due to a lack of education on Dharma, Hindus fail to grasp the significance of the holy Saryu River. Imparting religious education to Hindus is therefore essential.
  • How many Muslims or Christians would ever violate their own religious beliefs in such a manner? This situation is shameful for Hindus.
