Shriram Temple theft is ‘nadir of Indians’ integrity’ : Justice Atul Sreedharan, Allahabad HC

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) – The theft of donations from Shriram Temple is the ‘nadir of India’s integrity’. The government should amend a law such that the accused can be given the death penalty, said Justice Atul Sreedharan of the Allahabad High Court. Justice Sreedharan made these remarks while hearing a case on bulldozer action. Justice Siddharth Nandan was also present in the bench.

Justice Atul Sreedharan further said,

1. Nothing can shame people who are unfazed by Shriram Temple donations theft.

2. An average Indian has normalised corruption and no longer considers it wrong unless caught. Even the fact that India ranks 91 among 182 countries in the Transparency International 2025 report does not shame us.

Supreme Court orders SIT formation in donation theft case

The Supreme Court has ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) again on July 20th in the case of theft of donations from the Shriram Temple. Chief Justice Suryakant said, “A new SIT should be formed. Senior IPS officers should lead the team. By doing so, the investigation will reach a crucial stage. We only want to warn. Do not do politics in this case. In the light of the facts, this act seems to be a criminal case under the law. It should be investigated impartially, independently and with complete honesty. The investigation should reach its logical conclusion. That is all we are saying.”
