Mr Pramod Muthalik was born in 1963 into a devout Brahmin family in Hukkeri taluka of Belagavi District. His father, Hanumantrao Muthalik, and mother, Sumatibai, were both deeply committed to the cause of the nation and Dharma. His father served as a preacher in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and from an early age, instilled in his son a strong sense of patriotism. As a result, Mr Pramod Muthalik joined the RSS at the young age of 13. He completed his SSLC education in Hukkeri and later earned a degree in commerce from Belgaum. Inspired by the late Vitthal Adake, a chartered accountant, he resolved to dedicate his life to the cause of Hindutva. Impressed by his unwavering dedication, in 2004 the RSS appointed him as the South India pracharak for Bajrang Dal. Through public speeches, outreach campaigns, and grassroots efforts, he mobilized lakhs of youth across South India to join the Bajrang Dal. During that time, the mere mention of Bajrang Dal would send a chill down the spine—not only among Jihadis but also within the government and among political representatives. Mr Pramod Muthalik was instrumental in building such a powerful and influential organization in South India.
He served as an RSS pracharak (preacher) in Karnataka for 22 years. Following this, he became the State Organizer for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. Later, he took on the responsibility of coordinating Bajrang Dal’s activities across South India, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.
Through his work with Bajrang Dal in Karnataka, he significantly strengthened unity within the Hindu community. The saffron flag and kesari shawls became widely popular across villages due to his efforts. Mr Pramod Muthalik is credited with inspiring courage among Hindu youth to stand up against Jihadis, forced religious conversions by certain Christian groups, Muslim appeasement by the Congress party, and atheist communists.
Due to ideological differences with Bajrang Dal, he eventually parted ways with the organization. In 2005, he founded a new Hindu organization named Sri Ram Sene. Since then, for the past 20 years, he has been unwavering in his fight for Hindutva, without compromising on principles. His journey has been supported by the blessings and guidance of many senior leaders and revered saints.

Special Column
The sacrifice by the soldiers and generals for the Hindavi Swarajya as envisaged by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is supreme. Similarly, in the present times, many devout Hindus and patriotic citizens of this country have been striving to protect the Nation and Dharma. The ‘Warriors of Hindutva’ is a series of articles that sheds light on their life and their struggle to protect Hindu Dharma. We hope that it serves as a catalyst for the mission of establishing Hindu Rashtra and inspires many others. – Editor
1. The Struggle to Protect Dattapeeth in Chikkamagaluru (Karnataka)
Dattapeeth, located on the Chandradrona mountain in Chikkamagaluru district, is a sacred site where Sage Atri and his disciples are believed to have performed intense meditation. However, over time, local Muslims encroached upon the site and established the Baba Budangiri Dargah. While the annual Urus (festival) was allowed to take place, Hindus were denied permission to celebrate Datta Jayanti or perform daily rituals. Additionally, several unauthorized graves were constructed at the site. Despite being a traditionally Hindu site, there were no Hindu priests appointed there.
In response, Mr Pramod Muthalik launched a large-scale movement demanding the restoration of Dattapeeth’s sanctity. On Datta Jayanti, lakhs of youth began wearing Dattamala and marching toward Dattapeeth. This movement inspired a massive turnout of Hindus to the site. As a result of this sustained struggle, nearly 90% of the movement’s objectives have been achieved.
2. Fight Against Foreign Influence and Illegal Pubs
In 2009, an illegal pub was operating near a reputed medical college in Mangaluru, where students were frequently seen spending time. Despite repeated appeals, neither the police nor the pub owner took any action. In response, activists from the Sri Ram Sena entered the pub in broad daylight and confronted the students who were skipping classes to hang out there. An altercation broke out during the confrontation.
The incident was widely publicized under the headline “Pub Attack,” and 25 Sri Ram Sene activists were arrested. This marked the beginning of a campaign against the growing pub culture, seen by some as promoting undesirable influences.
Following the incident, some of the girls’ mothers reportedly expressed their appreciation to Mr Pramod Muthalik, saying, “You did a good job. You saved our daughters from the pub. We didn’t even know they were going there. You did what we, as parents, should have done.”
The attack served as a warning to several other unauthorized pubs. In 2018, a court in Mangaluru acquitted Mr Muthalik and the activists involved in the case.
While raising awareness against the corrupting influence of foreign cultures, they went on to expose the Christian institutional background behind Western concepts like ‘Valentine’s Day’ (a day of love), ‘Rose Day’ (a day for giving roses), ‘Friendship Day’ (a day to celebrate friendship), and ‘Kiss Day’ (a day for kissing), thereby seeking to awaken public consciousness.
3. A Hindu leader who continues his struggle undeterred despite over 117 legal cases filed for his work related to Hindutva

Mr Pramod Muthalik is known for raising awareness among the Hindu community and speaking out on issues such as ‘Love Jihad’, ‘Halal Jihad’, religious conversions, terrorism, and the killing of Hindu activists. As a result, numerous legal cases have been registered against him in various regions. He has been charged with delivering hate speeches, especially after urging Hindus to keep weapons at home for the protection of their sisters and themselves. He also faced legal action for calling on Hindus to boycott those who do not say ‘Vande Mataram’, engage in cow slaughter, or oppose the construction of the Ram Temple. Altogether, more than 117 cases have been filed against him in the state of Karnataka. He has contested all these cases legally, and in around 90% of them, the courts have acquitted him.
4. Entry Ban in Several Districts of Karnataka and Other States
Mr Pramod Muthalik was banned from entering Goa for 12 years after he urged the state government to curb pub and casino culture. Additionally, following the pub attack incident, he was barred from entering over 15 districts in Karnataka, including Dakshin Kannada, Harihar, Bailhongal, and Kolar. However, he legally challenged these bans, and in most cases, the courts revoked the restrictions. Thus, he is one of the few leaders to have faced such widespread entry bans across districts due to his work for the Hindutva cause.
5. Helpline to Combat ‘Love Jihad’ and Book Publication
Mr Pramod Muthalik has been actively campaigning against what he terms “Love Jihad” for many years. Citing the failure of the Karnataka police to address such cases, Sri Ram Sene launched a dedicated Love Jihad Helpline Number to support Hindu girls allegedly trapped in such situations. If a girl contacts this helpline, activists from Sri Ram Sene intervene to assist her. Since its launch, the helpline has reportedly received hundreds of calls.
According to Sri Ram Sene, over the course of 20 years, they have helped rescue 4,760 Hindu girls from alleged religious conversions. In many cases, when police failed to act despite formal complaints, intervention by Sri Ram Sene members reportedly led to justice.
For example, in the widely reported Neha Hiremath case, even after she was murdered by a Muslim youth, the accused was not immediately expelled from his college. Upon learning of this, Mr Muthalik personally met the college administration, after which the accused was removed from the institution.
Recently, Mr Pramod Muthalik published a Kannada-language book titled Love Jihad to raise public awareness on the issue.
6. His Fight for Cow Protection

Sri Ram Sene activists, under the leadership of Mr Muthalik, have tirelessly fought—day and night and without concern for their own safety—against religious extremists involved in the illegal transportation of cattle. Through these efforts, they have rescued over 13,000 cows. More than 30,000 activists have been initiated into the mission of cow protection.
In several cases related to cow protection, due to false cases filed by the police and political pressure, many activists have had to endure months of imprisonment. Despite these challenges, Sri Ram Sene continues to work relentlessly for the cause of cow protection.
7. Fight Against Religious Conversions
Mr Pramod Muthalik has repeatedly led campaigns against cunning Christian missionaries who attempt to convert innocent Hindus. Along with several Swamijis and saints, he met with the then Chief Minister of Karnataka to demand the implementation of an anti-conversion law. As a result of these efforts, the ‘Anti-Conversion Law’ was enacted in Karnataka.
