Human rights violations by Pakistan in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir: India

New Delhi – India has stated that Pakistan is committing human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in response to the ongoing violence in the region. India also accused Pakistan of spreading false news and misleading information regarding the protests underway in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the harsh action taken by Pakistani security forces. More than 120 people have reportedly died so far in the ongoing violence in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, said:

1. Pakistan appears to be spreading false news and videos regarding the situation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This is an attempt to conceal its own failures and divert attention from human rights violations.

2. Reports are emerging that the Police in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are behaving in an inhumane manner. Many people have been killed and several others injured in the violence there.

3. We hope that the international community will hold Pakistan accountable for its wrongful actions and human rights violations.

Violence continues in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir

Citizens of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir have taken to the streets in protest against the policies of the local administration and the Government of Pakistan, which they regard as unjust. The demonstrations are reportedly being conducted on a large scale but peacefully. Pakistani security forces subjected the protesters to brutal beatings and opened fire on them. In addition, tear gas shells were used, and baton charges were carried out in an attempt to disperse the demonstrators. In response, the protesters allegedly pelted stones at the security forces, further escalating the situation.

Thereafter, the angry protesters accused Pakistan of engaging in repression.

Editorial Perspective

Please note that international human rights organisations, which frequently portray India as violent at every opportunity, are not uttering a word against Pakistan’s acts of brutality in this matter!
