US attacks 20 locations in Iran

• Iran retaliates by attacking US bases

• Risk of war flaring up again between the two countries

New York – An advanced American Apache helicopter recently crashed in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States has alleged that Iran shot down the helicopter. Immediately following the incident, the US military launched heavy attacks on 20 locations in Iran in retaliation. This new escalation has dealt a major blow to efforts aimed at maintaining the Iran–US ceasefire. Trump had been striving to end hostilities between the two countries and bring about a peace agreement. Only a few days ago, he had claimed that “we are very close to reaching an important agreement”. However, this latest confrontation has significantly increased the risk of war between the two nations.

1. US President Donald Trump stated that “shooting down the American helicopter was a major mistake by Iran”. He further clarified that “the United States will respond swiftly and forcefully”.

2. The United States claimed that an Iranian “suicide drone” brought down the Apache helicopter. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the helicopter crashed due to an Iranian attack or because of a technical malfunction. Fortunately, both pilots were rescued safely and are reported to be in good health.

Iran’s response

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister stated that Iran had no intention of bringing down the helicopter. Following the American attacks, Iran also launched a strong response. According to Iran, when the United States carried out air strikes in its southern regions, Iran retaliated by launching a drone attack on the largest US naval headquarters located in Bahrain. Furthermore, Iran launched missile strikes on American air bases in Jordan. According to Iranian state media, the entire operation was retaliation for the US bombing attacks on Iranian locations.
