Safe haven for Bangladeshi infiltrators in Mumbai in exchange for money

  • Suspicious conduct by the Police

  • Senior officials to conduct an enquiry

  • Devout Hindus assaulted for filing complaints, while infiltrators are protected

Mumbai – While thousands of Bangladeshi infiltrators have reportedly been detected in Mumbai over the past year, a disturbing fact has emerged that Police personnel are accepting bribes from Bangladeshi infiltrators and providing them protection in Bhattipada, Bhandup (West). Following a complaint lodged by Devout Hindus, senior Police officials have assured that an enquiry will be conducted, and action taken within four to five days.

1. Residents informed workers of the Vishva Hindu Parishad that some Bangladeshi infiltrators were engaged in selling fruits and fish in Bhattipada. On 7 June, devout Hindus checked the identity documents of the vendors.

2. A youth selling tender coconut water claimed to be a Hindu; however, when a digital payment was made, it emerged that he was a Muslim. When devout Hindus asked for his Aadhaar card, he admitted that he had come from Bangladesh. (Cunning Muslims! – Editor) Thereafter, an argument broke out between him and the Hindus. He attempted to attack the Hindus with a sickle (a tool used for slicing coconuts).

3. He then fled to Bhandup Police Station. The devout Hindus also reached the station. They demanded an enquiry into whether the Muslim vendors were Bangladeshi infiltrators; however, instead of investigating the matter, the Police assaulted the Hindus. Angered by this, activists of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal staged a protest outside the Police station until late at night and condemned the Police action. Devout Hindus accuse the police of taking bribes from Bangladeshi infiltrators

Devout Hindus alleged that the Police were accepting regular bribes from Bangladeshi infiltrators conducting business in Bhattipada and providing them protection. The activists reportedly presented photographs and videos showing Police personnel collecting such payments.

Speaking to a Sanatan Prabhat correspondent, Mr Gautam Rawaria, Co-Convenor of Bajrang Dal’s Konkan Province, said, “We have lodged a complaint with Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhinay Deshmukh regarding Police personnel accepting bribes and providing protection to Bangladeshi infiltrators. He has assured us that an enquiry will be conducted and strict action will be taken. We will also submit complaints regarding this matter to the Chief Minister and the Human Rights Commission.”

Editorial Perspective

Protecting Bangladeshi infiltrators in exchange for money amounts to treason against the nation. Why should Police personnel who bring disrepute upon the Police force through such actions not face severe punishment, such as dismissal from service or life imprisonment?
