Shamli (UP) – Police have arrested Chandani Qureshi, a lady gym trainer and her father, Islam Qureshi in a case of cheating and forcefully converting a 27-year-old chemist shop owner named Ayush Malik from the district. Ayush Malik is the only son of his father, who is a millionaire. It is being said that Chandani Qureshi lured Ayush into the love trap, eyeing his wealth.

1. The victim, Ayush Malik, was going to a local gym called ‘Qureshi Plus’ about 5 years ago. 25-year-old Chandni Qureshi was working there as a trainer.

2. Ayush’s father Devraj Malik has alleged that Chandni lured Ayush into a trap of love as part of a planned conspiracy. She also put intense pressure on Ayush to convert to Islam in order to get married.

3. The two secretly entered into a nikah (Islamic marriage) in Delhi using forged documents. After this, Ayush’s name was changed to Mohammad Ali.

4. Ayush’s changed lifestyle made the family suspicious. Shamli Superintendent of Police Narendra Pratap Singh said that it has come to light that Ayush was influenced by being shown YouTube videos of inflammatory speeches by Pakistani preacher Dr Israr Ahmed.

5. The Police have registered a case against a total of 9 to 10 people, including 3 Muslim clerics (Maulavis). A case has been registered against them under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act for offences including extortion (Section 308), cheating (Section 318), forgery of documents (Sections 336 and 338), criminal intimidation (Section 351), and other related provisions.

6. The Police have formed a special investigation team to find out if there is a big network behind this case.

7. Local Hindu organizations have strongly condemned this incident and warned of agitation. At present, out of fear or pressure from the Police, Ayush Malik has left for an unknown place and the Police are searching for him.
