The incident took place in a temporary Pendal of Aika Jubasangh in the Arupara area. The artisans had left the Idols to dry after coating them with clay on the night of 20th September.
Vandalism of temples and desecration of Idols is a common occurrence in Islamic Bangladesh. Every year, these attacks peak just before Durga Puja, the biggest festival for Bengali Hindus from all over the world.
