Case registered against Azam for stalking and molesting a Hindu woman doctor

Rudrapur (Uttarakhand): A Hindu woman doctor has alleged that a Muslim named Azam has been stalking and molesting her for the past two years. According to her complaint, the accused had been following her for the past two years and would perform obscene acts whenever he found her alone. Based on the victim’s complaint, the Police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused.

1. The victim said that she had moved to Rudrapur from Udham Singh Nagar six years ago. She has been working as an ophthalmologist at a private hospital in Rudrapur for the past three years. She further stated that about five to six years ago, she became acquainted with a youth named Azam, a resident of Sitarganj, through Instagram.

2. As the accused lived near the doctor’s house, the two became good friends and also began speaking over the phone. However, fed up with Azam’s unusual behaviour, the doctor had completely stopped communicating with him two years ago.

3. Even after she stopped communicating with him, Azam did not stop stalking her. He repeatedly called the doctor and pressured her to resume their friendship. Not only that, he also began following her on her way to the hospital.

4. The doctor stated that he would come up to her cabin and perform obscene acts whenever he found her alone. Distressed by this continued harassment, she became mentally traumatised and started feeling insecure.

5. Finally, the victim lodged a written complaint against Azam at the Rudrapur Kotwali Police Station. Based on her complaint, the Police have registered a case, and teams are conducting raids at various locations to arrest the accused.
