Villagers march to Kagal (Kolhapur district) Police Station in the ‘Love Jihad’ case and demand that the Hindu young woman be handed over to her parents !

Kagal (Kolhapur district) – Villagers from Mhakve marched to Kagal Police Station and staged a sit-in protest in connection with the ‘Love Jihad’ case and to demand that the Hindu young woman be handed over to her parents. A large number of women participated in the protest. The villagers said that they would not leave the premises of Kagal Police Station until the concerned Hindu young woman was handed over to her parents.

The villagers met the Police Inspector of Kagal Police Station and placed their demands before him. The Police Inspector assured them that legal action would be taken after completing the necessary legal procedure in the matter.

While speaking to journalists, Mr Vijay Devane, Co-Contact Chief of the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction, said:

“The concerned Hindu young woman has not been found by her parents for the past two days, and we have been requesting the police to act; however, the police are neither taking note of the matter nor responding to us. A similar incident occurred at Shiroli just two months ago, yet even then the police administration did not cooperate. There is a large gang carrying out ‘Love Jihad’, which lures Hindu young women and ruins their lives. We demand that strict action be taken against those responsible and that they be externed from Kagal Taluka.”

Award the death penalty to the fiend who ruined the life of a Hindu young woman ! – Demand of the villagers

In this context, women from the village said:

“We are protesting so that the young woman from our village is returned to us. This is the third case involving the same fiend. The police administration should take strict action in this matter. We demand that the fiend who ruined the life of a Hindu young woman be awarded the death penalty.”

Editorial Perspective

As strict action is not taken in 'Love Jihad' cases, religious fanatics are emboldened and such incidents continue to increase. At least now, the government is expected to implement an anti-'Love Jihad' law without delay !
