'If not now, then never !' – Declaration made at a meeting of 600 to 700 Saints at Haridwar
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has distanced itself from the proposed Kar seva, stating that the matter is sub judice.
The Uttar Pradesh Government has not yet issued any response.
(Kar seva refers to the movement for the liberation of Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi.)

Mathura (Uttar Pradesh): Saints have announced that a Kar seva will be undertaken at Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi on 9th August in connection with the dispute over the Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi and the Shahi Idgah Mosque. The Saints maintain that the Shahi Idgah Mosque was built at the site where Bhagawan Shrikrushna was born. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has officially distanced itself from this call. VHP Braj Province President Kanhaiyalal Agrawal clarified that the matter is presently pending before the Supreme Court and the High Court; therefore, the Saints should respect the legal process. (Even when the Shriram Janmabhoomi matter was sub judice, the VHP had announced a Kar seva there. Therefore, if anyone finds its stand on Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi to be different, it should not come as a surprise ! – Editor) The BJP has not yet issued any response to this appeal. Similarly, the Uttar Pradesh Government has also not stated its position. Swami Sachchidanand Maharaj, Peethadheeshwar of Chitragupta Peeth, has appealed to various political parties to unite and participate in the Kar seva.
Mahant Ravindra Puri, President of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, has also extended his support to the Kar seva and appealed to all devotees, saying, “Let us go to Mathura.” Swami Anand Swaroop, National President of the Kali Sena, has appealed to Saints across the country to unite in support of the Kar seva on 9th August. Following an important meeting held at Haridwar, the Saints declared, “If not now, then never.” The meeting was attended primarily by Mahant Ravindra Puri, Jagadguru Swami Sachchidanand, Mahamandaleshwar of the Anand Akhada, and Swami Balkananad.

Swami Sachchidanand Maharaj held a meeting with Saints at the Nirmohi Akhada in Mathura and finalised the strategy for the Kar seva. The Saints of the Nirmohi Akhada have also extended their support to the campaign for the liberation of Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi. Following the meeting, posters relating to the Kar seva were also circulated. Swami Sachchidanand Maharaj said, “August is the month of revolution. On the lines of the Kar seva undertaken for Bhagawan Shriramlalla in 1990, we have prepared for a movement for the liberation of Shrikrushna. Initially, there will be a ‘Brajvasi Kar seva’. The people of Braj will unite for Banke Bihari, following which people from other places will come and liberate Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi.”

Akhilesh Yadav should also become a part of the movement ! – Sitaram Das Maharaj

National spokesperson of the Nirmohi Akhada, Saint Sitaram Das Maharaj, said that all Sanatani Hindus must unite for the liberation of Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi. He added that Akhilesh Yadav, President of the Samajwadi Party, is a descendant of Shrikrushna and, therefore, he too should become a part of this movement.
Saints of Ayodhya extend support to the announcement of Kar seva in Mathura
The Saints of Ayodhya have welcomed the announcement of the proposed Kar seva. They expressed confidence that, just as a grand Shriram Temple was constructed in Ayodhya, a magnificent temple would likewise be built at Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi.
Mahant Sitaram Das of Saket Bhavan, Ayodhya, said that just as Kar sevaks and Saints had undertaken Kar seva in Ayodhya and demolished the disputed structure, the time has now come for a similar movement. He said that this is a matter of faith for Sanatani Hindus.
Chief Priest of the Shriram Janmabhoomi, Mahant Satyendra Dasji Maharaj, said that just as the Saints had launched the Shriram Janmabhoomi movement and, after ending a blot of 500 years, a grand temple now stands in Ayodhya, the Saints of Ayodhya have, with the same spirit, taken a decision for Mathura along with Saints from across the country.
Renowned Kathavachak Chandranshu Maharaj said, “We have always raised the slogan, ‘Ayodhya to keval jhanki hai, Kashi-Mathura baki hai.’ A grand temple has now been built in Ayodhya, and the next march is towards the birthplace of Purushottam Shrikrushna.”
There will be no need for a Kar seva if the Government announces the construction of the temple !
Swami Anand Swaroop clarified that 9th August is observed in the country as Kranti Diwas (Revolution Day) and is therefore a highly significant day. If the Government officially announces the construction of the temple before that date, there will be no need for a Kar seva. He added that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already stated that a Shrikrushna Temple will certainly be built. If the date for the commencement of the temple is not announced before 9th August, the community of Saints will peacefully express their sentiments through the Kar seva. He further stated that 600 to 700 Saints from Haridwar alone would travel to Mathura to participate in the Kar seva.
Matter pending before the Supreme Court and the High Court
The Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi dispute is presently pending before the Supreme Court. In addition, hearings are under way before the Allahabad High Court in 18 related cases, in which petitions have sought the removal of the Shahi Idgah Mosque and the restoration of the temple.
