France's editorial criticises Hindu nationalists over Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

New Delhi – An editorial published on the French news website ‘France 24’ has criticised Hindu nationalists over a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj installed in Telangana. The editorial has been published under the title, “India’s Hindu Nationalists Take 17th-Century King as New Anti-Muslim Symbol.” The editorial does not mention the name of any author.
Regarding the installation of this statue, an article was published in an American newspaper on 31st May stating that a new trend of installing statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has begun in present-day India.

It further states that, on 29th May 2026, information was circulated on social media claiming that a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had been installed at Sangareddy in Telangana.
