SC grants interim stay on the arrest of Adv. Prashant Bhushan who referred the Ramayan and Mahabharat as opium !

Has Prashant Bhushan ever dared to call the religious aspects of other religions opium ? He is aware of the consequences of such acts that is why he never speaks anything against other religions. However, he always speaks against the tolerant Hindus !

New Delhi – The Supreme Court on 1^st May granted interim protection from arrest to activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan over a tweet on 28^th March in which he said Ministers were “feeding the opium of Ramayana & Mahabharata to the people” to divert their attention from the plight of the poor during the lockdown.” Bhushan approached the court after an FIR was filed in Rajkot, Gujarat Police station accusing him of hurting religious sentiments. He sought protection from arrest and quashing of the FIR.

Bhushan had tweeted in response to a photograph of Union Minister Prakash Javadekar watching Ramayan. “As crores starve & walk hundreds of miles home due to forced lockdown, our heartless Ministers celebrate consuming & feeding the opium of Ramayan & Mahabharat to the people,” he tweeted. I tried to put forward the situation of people suffering from lockdown. My purpose was not to hurt anyone’s religious feelings. I have reiterated the observations made by Karl Marx on religion. (If Prashant Bhushan had to narrate the suffering of the people, he could have expressed it in other words as well. It was not necessary to associate that with Ramayan and Mahabharat, but he has made such statement intentionally. Why Prashant Bhushan never relates Karl Marx’s statement to the behaviour of religious fanatics ? Why did he not link religion to what has been done by the Tablighi followers in the country ? Remember, people like Prashant Bhushan think of Karl Marx only in relation to Hindu Dharma ! – Editor). Prashant Bhushan also objected that the complaint was lodged 15 days after his tweet.

How can you raise objection to what someone can watch on the Doordarshan ? – Supreme Court rebukes advocate Prashant Bhushan

A Division Bench of Supreme Court Justices Ashok Bhushan and Sanjeev Khanna rebuked Adv. Prashant Bhushan, asking how can you object to what someone can watch on Doordarshan ? Prashant Bhushan’s advocate Dushyant Dave said that we do not have any objection to the programmes of Doordarshan. We only object to the FIR against Prashant Bhushan’. (If there is no objection to the programmes, why was Ramayan and Mahabharat even mentioned ? – Editor)
