5 army officers under house arrest in Bangladesh !

Action taken when Bangladesh’s army chief is on visit to Russia

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – 5 army officers have been placed under house arrest for their important role in last year’s student protests in Bangladesh. This includes five military officers, including two brigadiers, a colonel, a lieutenant colonel and a major. Army officers were put under house arrest when Bangladesh’s army chief General Waqar Uz Jamaan is on Russian visit. The army officers were held captive in their official residences on 5thApril. Bangladesh’s interim government has not made public the identities of the officials.

All these officers are being monitored round the clock and have been relieved of all responsibilities and barred from leaving the country.
