Pakur (Jharkhand) – The Shri Ramnavami procession could not be taken out on 6th April after the local administration denied permission. Authorities claimed that the required documents for the procession were not submitted and the number of participants was also not specified. Citing law and order concerns, permission was refused. The administration even warned that any violation of the order would lead to action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code.

The Shri Ramnavami Utsav Committee had applied for permission to take out a procession on 6th April 2025 in Pakur. The Committee stated that people from villages such as Kolajoda, Samshera, Praharkol, Gokulpur, Nagarnavi, Jhikharati, Pirlipur, Bahirgram, and Chengadanga would participate. Participants would carry traditional weapons, religious flags, and sound systems. The Committee had requested the administration to provide security and support. The district administration had asked the Pakur City Police Station in-charge to submit a report; however, the report was not submitted in time. Hence, the administration denied permission.

“Soon, even Diwali and Durga Puja will be banned” – BJP

BJP state president Babulal Marandi

BJP State President Babulal Marandi criticised the attitude of the administration and the Government. Posting on ‘X’, he said, “This order by Pakur district administration is a direct attack on the faith of Hindus. When Tazia (a replica of Imam Hussain’s tomb, created in many forms and sizes) processions are allowed in Pakur, why is a Shri Ramnavami procession being stopped?

The Government banning Ramnavami today could very well ban Diwali and Durga Puja tomorrow. An administration that bows to anti-Hindu forces is a threat to democracy. Such incidents are repeatedly taking place in Jharkhand. Under the pretext of law and order, Hindu festivals are being curtailed while all sorts of privileges are granted to another community. It appears the Government, under pressure from extremists, is preparing to turn Pakur into an undeclared ‘Greater Bangladesh’.”

Editorial Perspective

Hindus in Jharkhand are now facing the consequences of bringing the ‘Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’ to power – the day Hindus realise this will be a fortunate turning point.
