Bangladeshi terror outfits behind Murshidabad violence

Bangladeshi terrorist outfits active in Murshidabad to turn Bengal into Bangladesh

Murshidabad (Bengal) – Evidence is mounting that Bangladesh has links to the recent anti-Hindu violence in Murshidabad, which has been ongoing for the past few days, allegedly over the Waqf Reform Act. Reports suggest that this violence is part of a conspiracy orchestrated by jihadi terrorists under the pretext of opposing the Waqf law. Thus far, 3 people, including 2 Hindus, have lost their lives in the violence. Police have received intelligence that the Bangladeshi jihadi terrorist group ‘Hizb-ut-Tahrir’ is behind the unrest. Previously, terrorists from the Bangladeshi group ‘Ansarullah Bangla Team’ were arrested from Dhuliyan in Murshidabad. Activities of other terrorist organisations like ‘Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent’ and ‘Hizbul Mujahideen’ have also been uncovered in this area.

Over 40 Hizb-ut-Tahrir sleeper cells active in Murshidabad District

Intelligence sources report that more than 40 sleeper cells of Hizb-ut-Tahrir may be operating in Murshidabad. A top commander from the group visited the District in September of last year. Additionally, two operatives have reportedly been active for months in the Dhuliyan and Farakka regions. Murshidabad shares a porous border with Bangladesh, where illegal infiltration and smuggling are said to be common. Hizb-ut-Tahrir is believed to be attempting to expand its influence and establish a robust network.

Modus operandi of Hizb-ut-Tahrir:

  • Sowing confusion among the Muslim community under the guise of religion
  • Preparing the Muslim community to attack Hindus
  • Misleading and radicalising local youth to recruit them into the organisation

Hindus dragged out and killed

During last year’s political turmoil in Bangladesh, Hizb-ut-Tahrir used similar methods. Hindus were dragged out of their homes and beaten on the streets. Many were murdered. Temples were vandalised, and Hindu homes and shops were set ablaze. According to intelligence sources, the group is now planning to use opposition to the Waqf law as a cover to create unrest in India.

Terrorists being trained in Bangladesh border madarasas and sent into India

Over the past two years, many terrorists linked to ‘Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent’ and ‘Ansarullah Bangla Team’ have been apprehended. Around 20 of them are reportedly Bangladeshi nationals. Sources claim that several so-called madarasas near the Bangladesh border are being used to radicalise youths in the name of religion. These youths are trained in weapons use and bomb-making. The trained jihadis are provided with fake Indian identification and are sent into India to turn Bengal into Bangladesh.
