Bihar Government to promote Sanatan Dharma in 38 Districts

Pataliputra (Bihar) – The Bihar Government’s State Religious Trust Council (known as the Bihar State Board of Religious Trust) will appoint Coordinators in all its 38 Districts to promote Sanatan Dharma. The Council currently has 2,499 registered temples, Muths and trusts under its records.

In addition to maintaining the records of their properties, the Council also oversees their functioning. The Coordinators will be appointed in coordination with the Mahants (Chief priests) of these temples. This Council operates under the Law Department of the Bihar Government.

Council Chairman Ranbir Nandan said that the process of selecting one Coordinator per District will begin shortly. Only Mahants will be selected for these positions. “Our festivals keep the culture of our country alive. They are a living representation of environmental harmony, devotion, and community participation. There is a need to spread awareness about the significance of festivals, rituals, values, and Sanatan Dharma,” he emphasised.

What will the Coordinators do ?

1. Ensure that all registered temples and Muths in the District perform Satyanarayan Katha on the full-moon day and Bhagwati Puja on the new-moon day every month.

2. To confirm that the significance of these rituals is being communicated to the people, and encourage them to conduct these rituals in their homes every month.

3. Ensure that temples and Muths undertake social reform activities.

International Conference to be organised

Ranbir Nandan added that preparations are underway to organise an International Conference in the ancient city of Rajgir in the coming months to promote Sanatan Dharma. The Council has also decided to publish a religious calendar highlighting all festivals, rituals, and other religious activities within Sanatan Dharma.
