Melbourne (Australia) – An incident has come to light in which truck drivers of Indian origin working in Australia are being subjected to continuous racial abuse and threats. An audio clip has been shared on the Instagram account ‘Creator Gee’, in which Australian truck drivers can be heard using extremely abusive and violent language against Indians.
1. Threats to kill Indians
In the audio clip, one person openly says, “Kill the Indians. Stand with the white man. A civil war is coming. We will kill all Indian men, drown their children and sell the women into slavery.”
2. Several Indian drivers said that if they spoke in Punjabi or in an Indian accent over the radio communication system, they were subjected to severe verbal abuse. One driver said, “If your accent is not Australian and they hear an Indian dialect, the abuse starts immediately.” Due to this continuous mental harassment, many Indian drivers have stopped using the communication system altogether.
3. At a petrol station in South Australia, an Indian couple speaking in Punjabi were verbally abused by a man who told them, “Speak English here.” He later spat on the Indian driver. The victim described it as the most humiliating incident of their life.
