Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had written to the FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Officer), the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru and the MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs – Immigration) regarding a widely publicised Eid Meelad un Nabi event that featured participation of foreign preachers. HJS had raised the issue of foreign Islamic preachers possibly engaging in religious propagation using tourist or conference visas, which is prohibited by Indian law.
A massive Eid Conference to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad was organised on the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru on 5th September. While the list of Chief Guests included the CM, DCM and the Home Minister of Karnataka, what raised eyebrows was a list of Islamic preachers from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Yemen who featured on the guest list. HJS appealed to the Government to uphold the guidelines of the MHA regarding the participation of these preachers.
The Government of Karnataka took note of the concerns raised by HJS. Home Minister G Parameshwara clarified that the Police administration had directed the organisers of the conference not to invite any foreign preachers to avoid potential visa violations.
HJS expressed its gratitude to the Hindu groups who assisted it in ensuring that law and order are upheld. HJS also appealed to the Hindus to remain alert and employ all legal means to safeguard the Nation & Dharma.
