Statement by Samajwadi Party leaders expressing anger over a poster displayed in Mathura (UP) reading, “Babar in the heart, Ram on the lips”

Poster carries pictures of Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav

Mathura (Uttar Pradesh) – A poster displayed near Govardhan Chowk here shows Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and its National President Akhilesh Yadav wearing round caps, with the words, “Babar in the heart, Ram on the lips.” This has enraged Samajwadi Party leaders. The poster also carries Akhilesh Yadav’s statement, “The Idols were placed in Ayodhya under the cover of darkness.” It also features an earlier statement by his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav:

“Had it been necessary to kill more Karsevaks for Babri in Ayodhya, we would have done so.” Akhilesh Yadav was the first to allege theft of donations at the Shri Ram Temple, and he has continued to make such allegations. The poster was put up as a reply to these allegations.

Samajwadi Party’s district president, Virendra Yadav, said that the party would demand strict legal action against those responsible.
