Suspicion that youths in India were in contact with Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti

Pune – The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) carried out a major operation against a network suspected to be linked to Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti, conducting raids at more than 23 locations in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. During the operation, the ATS traced and questioned 66 persons suspected of being in contact with Bhatti. Electronic devices, mobile phones and other important evidence were seized. The ATS said that some suspects had been taken into custody and were being questioned. As part of this operation, more than 112 suspects across the State have been subjected to intensive interrogation.
Acting on the directions of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Shahzad Bhatti and his associates were allegedly operating a covert network in India. The suspects were using social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and WhatsApp to establish contact with Indian youths. The gang was allegedly attempting to lure many unemployed and vulnerable youths into its network.
