The Municipal Corporation sprang into action only after a news channel highlighted the issue

Mumbai – Large quantities of garbage had accumulated on the famous Juhu Beach in Mumbai. It included plastic, thermocol, clothes, bags, wet waste and other filth. Large quantities of such garbage are washed ashore during high tide; however, the Municipal Corporation failed to clear it in time. The Municipal Corporation sprang into action only after a news channel reported the issue and began removing the garbage. Given the enormous volume of garbage, it is unlikely to be cleared within a short time.

Garbage washed ashore after the high tide, yet the municipal authorities reportedly acted only after the issue was highlighted by media.
Why was there no immediate clean-up plan?

Local corporator Sudha Singh said,
“The number of personnel and vehicles available for clearing the garbage is inadequate. We have repeatedly demanded that the Municipal Corporation increase the manpower and vehicles deployed for this work. As the volume of garbage is enormous, it will not be possible to clean the entire beach in a single day, and a systematic clean-up campaign will be required.”
