Presence of Bangladesh’s 3 Service Chiefs at Janmashtami celebrations in Dhaka!

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Under heavy security, Hindus in Bangladesh celebrated Janmashtami on Saturday, August 16th. The main ceremony took place at the Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital, Dhaka, where the heads of the army, navy, and air force were present. Prior to the procession at Palashi, accompanied by drums and traditional music, Hindus welcomed Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral M. Nazmul Hassan, and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan.
While addressing the gathering, Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman said: “I am grateful that you gave us the opportunity to participate in this festival. Bangladesh belongs equally to people of all religions and communities. There will be no question of division here. There will be no discrimination based on religion, caste, or sect. We are all citizens of this land, and we all have equal rights over it. Together, we shall strive for a bright future.”
The Army Chief further added: “To preserve peace, security, and harmony, the armed forces will always stand with the people. Bangladesh is a land of harmony, where Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, tribal communities, and Bengalis have lived together in peace for centuries. On this sacred occasion of Janmashtami, let us resolve to maintain this spirit of brotherhood.”

“The Army is deployed for the protection of Hindus!”
General Waker-uz-Zaman stated that the Bangladeshi military is committed to upholding unity. He assured: “The armed forces across Bangladesh are deployed for the protection of Hindus. Celebrate your religious festivals joyfully, and we too will share in your happiness. The Janmashtami procession was once a grand annual tradition in Dhaka during the 19th and 20th centuries, but in recent times it had ceased. I am confident that from now on, this procession will take place every year. Whenever you require our support, we will surely extend it.”
“The message of Shririshna will continue to inspire people of all faiths!” – Message from Muhammad Yunus
Interim Government’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, in his Janmashtami greetings, said: “Lord Krishna gave society the message of justice, human compassion, and peace. Wherever injustice or oppression arose, he manifested himself to defeat evil. His philosophy and values will continue to inspire not just followers of Sanatan Dharma, but people of all religions.”
Editorial PerspectiveIf that is so, then why have there been over 2,500 attacks on Hindus in the past year? Why did neither the police nor the army do anything to protect Hindus? Why were hundreds of Hindu army officers, teachers, government employees, and policemen forcibly dismissed? Considering these facts, the Hindu community in Bangladesh must hold the Army Chief accountable! |
