Joe Biden grants clemency to 37 convicts with capital punishment
Washington – US President-elect Donald Trump has vowed that he will direct the US Justice Department to “vigorously” pursue death penalty for perpetrators once he takes charge. He announced, “As soon as I am inaugurated, I will direct Justice Department to pursue death sentence for the rapists, murderers and monsters to protect American families.” He assured re-enforcement of law and order in the country. On 23rd December the outgoing US President Joe Biden pardoned the death sentence of 37 convicts to life imprisonment. Though the announcement has been made by Trump, he cannot overturn the outgoing President’s decision of clemency.
Biden had pardoned his son
Previously, Biden had pardoned his son Hunter Biden. Hunter Biden was sentenced in the cases of illegal possession of gun and tax evasion. Biden had said, “I have full faith in law and order. However, politics has tainted judiciary. It is a failure of judiciary. Any sensible person who probes Hunter’s case, will realise that Hunter has been targeted because he is my son.”
