Understand why Saints or Responsible seekers point out mistakes and be grateful

H.H. Sandeep Alshi

When Saints or Responsible seekers (who have the responsibility of sevas), make the seekers aware of their mistakes or take a review of their sevas, they feel offended and / or hurt. They have reactions on why Saints and Responsible seekers take a review of their sevas when it is natural to make mistakes and when they already do sevas as per their capacity. The reason why Saints and Responsible seekers do this is because if seekers do seva which is above their capacity, with perfection and with responsibility, their seva output will increase and they will progress fast spiritually.

Due to my good destiny, Sadguru Satyavan Kadam, Sadguru Anuradha Wadekar, Mr Dinesh Shinde and I have benefited from the invaluable satsang of Sacchidanand Parabrahman (Dr) Jayant Athavale for 4-5 years.

He taught us various types of sevas. We used to make many minor mistakes but He would make us aware of them every time, and sometimes even reprimand us in front of everybody. Though all of us had been newly initiated into spiritual practice, none felt bad about it. On the contrary we felt happy that He is telling us our mistakes promptly. We used to have a positive attitude when He did this. Even today we remember the mistakes He pointed out and how He had corrected us, and hence, we are able to perform seva with perfection. This is the importance of others pointing out our mistakes.

Sachchidananda Parabrahman (Dr) Jayant Athavale used to give us a timeline to complete each seva and then take a review. If we would get delayed in completing the seva, He would make us aware about it. He kept a constant watch on increasing our seva output. It is only because of Him that we became capable to perform sevas and spiritual practice. We express gratitude unto His feet for this.

If all seekers perform spiritual practice keeping this perspective in mind, then they will always have a positive attitude and their seva output will also increase.

If seekers perform seva above their capacity, with perfection and responsibility, they will progress fast spiritually !
