Gokul Milk Union Clarifies Its Position on the Memorandum Submitted by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

Kolhapur – On 29 May, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and various Hindutva organisations submitted a memorandum at the headquarters of the Kolhapur District Milk Producers’ Union, popularly known as Gokul, demanding the cancellation of the ‘Halal’ certificate obtained by the Union. In response, Gokul issued a clarification under the name of Mr. Shivanand Swami. In its reply, Gokul stated that “all Gokul products are completely safe, pure, and of high quality. The Union has never compromised on quality and food safety.”
1. All milk and dairy products of Gokul are manufactured in strict compliance with Indian and international standards that ensure quality and food safety, including FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India), ISO 22000, EIC, and HACCP.
2. Mutual trust, goodwill, and good bond between milk-producing farmers and consumers are the greatest strengths of Gokul, and the Union remains committed to preserving this trust. (If the Milk Producers’ Union is committed to maintaining this trust, why was this not publicly declared when the Halal certificate was obtained? Since most of Gokul’s suppliers are Hindu milk-producing farmers, why have they not been informed informed of this till now?)
3. The ‘Halal Certificate’ is merely a technical or commercial certification required for exports to certain countries. (What does Gokul have to say about the fact that ‘Halal’ certificates are issued only by Muslim organisations, and the organisation issuing the certificate, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, has been accused of supporting terrorists ? Why did Gokul obtain certification from a Muslim organisation that publicly supports terrorists and provides them legal representation? Does this not amount to supporting terrorist activities? – Editor)
4. At present, Gokul Union is not undertaking any export-related activities for any of its products. Therefore, the said certificate will not even be used.
5. The points raised in your memorandum have been duly noted and there should be no misunderstanding regarding this matter.
