Kolkata (Bengal) – Claims are being made that an huge  amount of cash has been recovered from the office of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad at Surendranath College. A large number of currency notes have been damaged by termites and insects. The cash bundles came to light when this office that had remained closed for a long time was opened following administrative instructions.

1. This office had been closed as per the High Court’s directions many years ago because student elections were not held. Recently, the officers opened one of the cupboards in the room for routine cleaning and maintenance. TMC banners, posters and two trolley bags were found. The trolley bags were found to be filled with bundles of ₹500 and ₹100 notes. Most of the notes were damaged due to termites since they had been lying in the cupboard for a long time.

2. While criticising the TMC, BJP MLA Sajal Ghosh stated, “I don’t know what else remains to be seen in my life. We saw heaps of money in TMC leader’s house. We saw money recovered from a TMC leader’s jute field. Today, I saw lakhs of rupees kept in cupboards by TMC student union leaders and even that money has gone to waste.
