Meerut (Uttar Pradesh): Gada Khan Cooked Goat Meat Inside a Durga Temple on Bakrid

Accused arrested by police after protests by angry Hindu organizations

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) – A outrageous incident has come to light in which a man named Gada Khan cooked goat meat inside a Durga temple on the day of Bakrid. Alert Hindus caught Khan red-handed during the act. The incident has created tension throughout the area. The police acted promptly and arrested Khan.

Sequence of events

1. The incident took place at a Durga temple located on the Nauchandi Mela grounds in the city.

2. Gada Khan is originally a resident of Rajasthan. He had set up a swing ride in the temple premises. On 28 May, he began cooking goat meat inside the temple itself.

3. As soon as local Hindu organizations learned about the incident, they protested against it. Activists of the organizations ‘Narsingh Vahini’ and ‘Kartik Sena’ reached the spot immediately and staged a protest in the temple premises.

4. Seeing the situation deteriorating, a large police force arrived at the scene. The police seized the meat from the temple. Police officials assured the agitated Hindu activists that strict legal action would be taken.

Had a Hindu brought and cooked pork inside a mosque or dargah, a call (Fatwa) would have been issued calling for his ‘sar tan se juda’ (beheading). Hindus should build such a reputation that religious fanatics would never dare to hurt Hindu religious sentiments!
