Varanasi (UP) – The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) conducted a scientific survey on the 2nd day as well (i.e. on 5th August) at Gyanvapi, Dist. Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It lasted till 5 p.m. Government Counsel Rajesh Mishra gave this information. Mishra said, ‘5 individuals including advocate Akhlaq and advocate Mumtaz from Muslim parties also participated in the survey conducted on 5th August. Muslim parties did not participate in the survey conducted on the previous day, i.e. on 4th August. The survey work was stopped for lunch from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m’.
Hindu party’s advocate Subhash Chaturvedi said, ‘The team surveyed the central dome of the mosque complex, where prayers are offered. The cellar belonging to the Vyas family in the Gyanvapi area was also surveyed. The team is yet to reach the second cellar, which belongs to Muslims. The remaining two cellars have been buried’. After exiting the Gyanvapi site, Hindu petitioner Sita Sahu said that she saw figures of animals, as well as an Idol of a Deity, on the west wall of the Gyanvapi complex. Broken statues and pillars were also seen lying in the cellar.
We are satisfied with the survey – Mumtaz, Advocate of the Muslim party
Mumtaz, Advocate of the Muslim party, said, ‘We are satisfied with the survey work. We are fully cooperating with the work’. Muhammad Yasin, joint secretary of the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee, said on 4th August, ‘We will respect the Supreme Court’s decision and cooperate in the survey’.
