Beijing (China) – The Chinese Communist Government has fined a Christian couple a whopping 4 lakh Yuan (Rs 45,53,474) for running an underground church in their home. These two Christian missionaries’ names were Yang Jibo and Wang Jiofi. A Texas-based social organisation that monitors the persecution of Christians in China exposed this action by the Communist Government.
The couple were running a church called Xunsiding in their own home in Xiamen, a port in southeastern China. This Church was considered to be the largest Church in the province. In 2021, the Government fined the couple 2 lakh yuan (Rs 22,76,737) since there was no record of this church with the Chinese Government. It doubled the fine on 28th June 2023, to 4 lakh Yuan. The couple however has refused to pay the fine.
China also fined another church 25,000 Yuan (Rs 2,84,592) in May 2019.
