Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim resigns

Kolkata – Firhad Hakim, a leader of the All India Trinamool Congress, has resigned from the post of Mayor of Kolkata. Hakim submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The party leadership has also dissolved all party committees.

Commenting on Hakim’s resignation, BJP leader Amit Malviya said that Firhad Hakim’s tenure represented the worst phase of appeasement politics. He added that Hakim’s departure marks the end of a divisive chapter in Kolkata’s administration.

Editorial Perspective

Firhad Hakim had consistently made anti-Hindu and anti-national statements. His resignation is therefore a matter of satisfaction for Hindus. Such individuals should not merely be allowed to resign; they should instead be imprisoned.
