Trump threatens Iran yet again

Washington DC (USA) – US President Donald Trump, who had earlier stated that a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran was in its final stages, has once again threatened Iran. This has led to remarks that “Trump himself does not want this war to end”. Trump said that if Iran targets American soldiers, it will constitute a concrete and compelling reason to resume the war. Iran now has neither a navy nor an air force. Trump also repeated his usual rhetoric of US having completely destroyed Iran’s leadership. He further said that reports claiming Iran was performing well in the war were false. “It had 159 vessels. Today, all of them are lying at the bottom of the sea as scrap. We have even taken photographs of them,” the US President claimed.
Resolution passed in the US Congress against Trump
Meanwhile, the US House of Representatives passed a resolution against Trump. The resolution includes limiting Trump’s authority to declare war against Iran and compelling him to halt military action. Interestingly, four members of Trump’s Republican Party also supported this Democratic proposal. Trump strongly criticised the move by the House, describing it as “a meaningless vote”.
While attacking his opponents, Trump said that the Democrats were suffering from a mental disorder called “Trump Derangement Syndrome” (an obsession with opposing Trump). Instead of wanting to see the country progress, they only wished to see Trump defeated, he said.
This decision by the House is being regarded as the first successful challenge by Congress to Trump’s war policies. However, although the resolution will now be sent to the Senate, Trump still retains the power to take the final decision through his veto authority.
