Hindu Police Inspector commits suicide due to religious harassment by a Muslim officer at Budaun, UP

  • Family alleges that Police Inspector Shahid Ali subjected him to mental harassment based on religion, leading to the suicide

  • Departmental inquiry underway!

Budaun (Uttar Pradesh) – An incident has come to light where Police Inspector Meghshyam Gautam, who was deployed for court security, committed suicide by hanging himself. He has not left a suicide note; however, his family has alleged that he took this step because Police Inspector Shahid Ali was subjecting him to mental harassment. Following these allegations, orders for a departmental inquiry have been issued.

Allegations of harassment due to religious reasons

Meghshyam’s son stated that his father was deeply religious. He had received diksha (initiation) from a spiritual guru and had faith in Lord Shriram and Lord Shrikrushna. He used to go to work wearing a Tilak (Religious mark on the forehead), to which Shahid Ali had objected. Shahid Ali would ask, “Why do you ‘Pandit’ types wear this Tilak ?” Meghshyam had replied, “So what if you don’t believe in it? We do.” (Just imagine what would have happened if in Pakistan, a Hindu officer belonging to the minority Hindu community had said this to a Muslim officer! In India, however, Muslims, who are a minority, dominate over Hindus on the basis of religion and Hindus endure it silently. This situation is shameful for Hindus! – Editor)

Very serious allegations by the family!

His son has said that his father would often fall ill and take leave due to such incidents at the office and the resulting mental pressure. He had been under immense stress for the past 15 days and was talking about seeking a transfer. He had told his family that if he was not transferred, something untoward might happen to him there.

Action will be taken after an inquiry – Superintendent of Police

Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma stated that a complaint has been received from the relatives. The relatives have claimed to be in possession of some call recordings and other evidence, which will be handed over to the investigating agencies. No such complaint had previously been recorded in departmental records; however, the evidence provided by the relatives will be examined and further legal action will be taken based on the facts that emerge during the investigation.
