I like PM Modi, he is a good friend of mine: Donald Trump

US President Trump reiterates his remarks

Washington DC (USA) – “I like your Prime Minister a lot. He is a good friend of mine, and we get along well. We have a good relationship,” US President Donald Trump said while speaking to reporters at the White House.

He also expressed confidence that a trade agreement between India and the United States would be concluded soon.

Allegation that India took advantage of the United States

For many years, India took advantage of the United States. They imposed enormous tariffs on us and paid nothing in return, Trump alleged. The Harley-Davidson company was not being allowed to enter India. They had imposed a 200% duty on it. Unfortunately, this happened before my tenure. They wanted to sell their motorcycles here (in the United States), and we were not charging them any duty. However, the nature of these trade relations has changed over the past few years. The United States is now deriving greater benefit from its economic relations with India as well, Trump told the media.

Editorial Perspective

As Trump is making increasingly contradictory and seemingly confused statements day after day, no one now places any trust in any of his remarks!
