Bangladesh alleges that India is forcibly pushing infiltrators across the border!

Tensions rise at the border over returning Bangladeshi infiltrators

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Bangladeshi infiltrators are once again moving towards the border following the formation of a BJP government in Bengal. Bangladesh is angry seeing such a large number of infiltrators on the border. Now they are alleging that India is pushing in illegal immigrants into Bangladesh. The issue of illegal immigrants has once again created serious diplomatic and military tension. Bangladesh has alleged that ‘Indian security forces have tried to forcefully push the infiltrators into Bangladesh several times in the last 24 hours. Border Guard Bangladesh’ has claimed that they have foiled at least 10 attempts by Indian authorities to send people illegally across the border from different parts of the border.

Border Guard Bangladesh has warned that under no circumstances will any individual or group be allowed to cross the international border illegally and enter the territory of Bangladesh. Any attempt to violate established border-management protocols, diplomatic norms, or bilateral agreements between the two countries will be strongly resisted.

The allegations by Bangladesh have dealt a setback to diplomatic efforts aimed at improving relations between the two neighboring countries in recent months. India’s Border Security Force and the Ministry of External Affairs have not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter.

Difficult to maintain round-the-clock surveillance on the border

India and Bangladesh share an international border of over 4,000 km, one of the longest in the world. Completely sealing or maintaining round-the-clock surveillance on the entire border has always been a major challenge for the security forces of both countries, since the border passes through difficult terrain such as rivers, hills, and dense forests.

Dhaka objects to informal methods

The Bangladesh government and diplomatic officials have stressed that there is already an established legal and diplomatic framework in place to identify and return illegal immigrants. They maintain that if a person is found to be illegally residing in India and is proven to be a Bangladeshi citizen, he or she should be deported in accordance with established international norms and only through formal diplomatic channels.

Preparations ae now on to hold discussions at the military and diplomatic levels to defuse this growing tension and resolve this deadlock between the two countries.

Editorial Perspective

  • It has now become imperative for India to deal with Bangladesh in a language it understands.
  • Such opposition now, shows why it was necessary to curb Bangladeshi infiltration at the right time. Now the number of Bangladeshis in India is in crores. The Congress, Trinamool Congress, Communist Party etc. who are responsible for this should be held accountable and legal action should be taken against them.
