Anti-Indian statement of the mayor of Brampton City in Canada

Ottawa (Canada) – The Sikh community held a rally in Canada on 4th June to commemorate 39th anniversary of ‘Operation Blue Star’. (The action taken in June 1984 against the Khalistani terrorists hidden in the Golden Temple in Amritsar was, ‘Operation Blue Star’.) The tableau of India’s former PM Indira Gandhi’s assassination by her Sikh bodyguards had been displayed at the rally. The Mayor of Brampton City in Canada, Patrick Brown stated that the tableau of the assassination of the former Indian PM was not a hate crime as per the law in Canada.

Indian External Affairs Minister, Dr S Jaishankar said that the said incident was not appropriate for maintaining good relations between both nations. Canada’s High Commissioner to India, Cameron McKay, said in a tweet while expressing concern, that Canada was no place for hatred and violence to thrive. (Mere talk has no value.
