China should treat Uighur Muslims fairly! – Turkey

Will China ever pay heed to Turkey’s suggestions? China doesn’t even care about what U.S. says, why does Turkey think that it will listen to their suggestions? Turkey is just attempting to project itself as the messiah of Muslims!

New Delhi – Omer Celik, spokesperson for Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party, has expressed concerns over the plight of Uighurs in China. He said, ‘Turkey is closely monitoring the situation in Xinjiang province of China. Our govt. feels that China should treat the Turkish Uighur Muslims fiarly. Around 1 crore Uighurs reside in Xinjiang; out of which, 45% are Turkish Muslims’.

1. While expressing his concerns, Celik said, ‘The only way to address the concerns is better treatment of the Uighurs by China.’ Last year, Celik had asked China to review its policy on Uighurs. Back then, he said that China should learn to differentiate between terrorists and innocent people.

2. Turkey’s foreign ministry said, ‘Turkey is concerned for the human rights violations taking place in Xinjiang province. We hope that China will look upon Uighur Muslims as its own citizens.’

3. A Turkish committee had expressed concerns about the treatement o Uighur Muslims in the 75th meeting of United Nations General Assembly.
