New Delhi – Controversial author Arundhati Roy recently participated in a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Citizenship Register (NCR) Act. She criticized the National Population Register (NPR). She said that if any Government employee comes to obtain information about NPR, people give fake name and address. “You tell the surveyor your name is ‘Ranga-Billa’ and the address is ‘7 Race Course’. We are not just agitating for enduring sticks and bullets, but today, we need to take deliberate action”, she said. She alleged that PM Modi was lying to the country over the sources of the NRC.

Arrest Arundhati Roy under NSA : Subramanian Swamy

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has demanded that Arundhati Roy be arrested under the National Security Act (NSA). Swamy said that Roy’s comments on the NPR amount to sedition and called her a danger for the society.

“In effect, you are saying it is an illegitimate government. Leave aside the sanctity of the law, even for the national survey if officials ask how many kilograms of rice you eat, you have to tell the truth”, he said. “She is a danger to the society by spreading this kind of speech … she is trying to bring the Nation in dispute, creating hatred against the Hindu community by siding with the Muslim community and provoking them”, said the BJP leader.
