Statement by Vineet Kumar who played the role of Kavi Kalash the film Chhava
Mumbai – The torture inflicted on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj by Aurangzeb in Chhava is shown in minuscule scale. Whatever the viewers saw on the big screen in the last 30 minutes was difficult to watch. Nearly all of them had closed their eyes when the torture scene appeared on the screen. If real torture was depicted, no one could bear it, stated actor Vineet Kumar who played poet Kalash in Chhava movie. This movie has earned over Rs 500 crore.
Singh, the actor, added,
1. Before the shooting for the movie began, I had visited the tomb of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Kavi kalash. I had spent half the day there. Spoke to many people. Some of the elderly who lived there for a long time, told me a lot of stories.
2. If someone is going through torture for over a month and then if a bullet is fired on him, what will you get to see, do you know ? I am a doctor; I have seen people with serious injuries in the Emergency ward. At that time, we are helping the patient by applying antiseptic ointment on their injuries and they scream with pain. At the time of treatment for fracture also patients experience unbearable pain.
3. In Chhava movie you can see that salt is being rubbed on the open wounds. If you visit the tomb of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, people will tell you many accounts of such torture. I had gone to his tomb seek his blessings before the shoot for the movie.
