French President Emmanuel Macron recently announced the construction of this new nuclear base. This new air base is being built in Luxembourg. France has made this announcement at a time when US President Donald Trump is withdrawing from ‘NATO’ countries and European countries are living in fear of a nuclear attack from Russia.
1. Now European countries have decided to strengthen their nuclear deterrence capabilities without the US.
2. Analysts say that France’s decision to build an air base capable of carrying out nuclear war is very important for the French Air Force. Currently, nuclear bombs are kept at 3 bases in France – Saint-Dizier, Istres and Avord. 50 Rafael aircraft are also deployed at these bases.
3. France made the announcement on the same day that Donald Trump held talks with Russian President Putin. Through this announcement, France has sent a message to both Trump and Putin. It has also tried to show that it does not need the US for a nuclear deterrent. France currently has about 290 nuclear bombs.
