I don’t care if I lose power for Shriram Temple

Statement by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Ayodhya

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared, “Three generations of my family have been dedicated to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement. We did not come to power for personal gain. Even if we have to lose power for Shri Ram Mandir, it does not matter.” He made this statement during a program in Ayodhya, where he had arrived to review development projects in the city.

Yogi Adityanath further stated,

1. There was a group that used to say, “Visiting Ayodhya as a Chief Minister will create controversy.” I responded, “If a controversy arises, so be it. But Ayodhya deserves serious consideration.” Another group said, “Your visit will reignite discussions about the Ram Mandir.” To that, I replied, “If anyone claims that I came to power for personal gain, then let me be clear—I have no problem losing power for Shri Ram Mandir.”

2. In 2017, when we organized Deepotsav in Ayodhya, we had only one goal in mind—no matter what, Ayodhya must reclaim its identity and receive the respect it truly deserves. You must have noticed that the day before Diwali, Ayodhya’s Deepotsav has now become not just a celebration, but a festival embraced by the entire society.

3. Shri Ayodhya Dham is the sacred foundation of Sanatan Dharma and the foremost among the seven holy cities of India. The Ramayana became the world’s first great epic (Mahakavya) and gained such widespread popularity that, beyond India, it continues to touch the hearts of people across different languages and cultures.

Editorial Perspective

Only a ruler who is a saint or sanyasi (ascetic) has courage to say such things ! If saintly rulers emerge everywhere, Ram Rajya in this nation will be not far.
