Bengali Hindus voted in a united manner in a way even the BJP had not expected !

The Trinamool Congress, a rabidly anti-Hindu Party that had enjoyed power for 15 years in the recent Bengal Legislative Assembly elections, suffered a crushing defeat. Bengali voters elected the BJP in as many as 206 out of 294 seats, that is, 71% of the seats. Against this backdrop, a staunch Hindutva (devout Hindu) leader from Bengal shared information with Sanatan Prabhat regarding the current situation of violence in Bengal, the mindset of the citizens there, and how the BJP secured so many seats. We present a report here.

1. Characteristics of Bengali voters

One characteristic of elections in Bengal is that whenever the people decide to change the Government, they remain completely silent. They never reveal whom they are going to vote for. Even in this election, they preferred to remain quiet and did not utter a word. Therefore, it was impossible to understand what was in their minds. Even when the people of Bengal brought the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI[M]) to power, they worked very quietly. In reality, the organisation of the CPI(M) was not that strong; yet, people voted for them.

Another characteristic of Bengal is that once they elect someone, they keep them in power continuously for 10 or 15 years. They give them sufficient time for development. That is why they allowed the CPI(M) to rule for 34 years and the Trinamool Congress for 15 years.

2. Fear among Hindus that Muslim dominance will be established if the BJP is not brought to power

This time around, the inclination of Bengali voters was quite different. They did not vote by looking at any political agenda. The people of Bengal had become convinced that if the BJP was not brought to power this time, Muslim dominance, which had already been increasing, would become firmly established there. Suppose Muslims constitute only 15% to 20% of the population in a village; even then, all the office-bearers and workers of Trinamool Congress there are Muslims. This is the reality. People viewed this issue from a religious perspective.

Therefore, they brought the BJP to power to save Hindutva. In my 40 years of social life, I have never witnessed such Hindu unity. Even the BJP had not imagined that Hindus would vote in such an organised manner from a religious perspective.

Spiritual strength of Saints behind the devout Hindu Party

Along with devout Hindu activists, Saints in Bengal also performed major work during this election. Many of their groups visited villages across Bengal and campaigned. They held meetings and explained to the people – ‘This is the last opportunity. If it does not happen now, it will never happen again. Bengal will transform into Bangladesh’. They carried out this work secretly. Saints have a very great influence on society. Therefore, Bengal voted this time completely keeping Hindutva at the forefront.

3. Public outrage due to atrocities against women

During the 15-year rule of Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, countless atrocities took place. Most of those committing them were fanatic Muslims. At times, Hindus were also involved. Many people were murdered and women were subjected to atrocities. Attempts were made to suppress all these incidents.

First Information Reports (FIRs) were not registered in such cases. In fact, there was an unofficial ban on them. The Police would stop and send back those who went to file complaints. The people of Bengal could not tolerate the atrocity committed against and the murder of the female doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College. Since Bengali Hindus are emotional by nature, the atrocities committed against the victim triggered massive public outrage across the State. The voters had internally resolved that whenever they get an opportunity, they would display their strength.

4. Corruption during ‘Mamata Raj’

Workers of the Trinamool Congress had snatched away jobs meant for ordinary citizens. Those who had appeared for Government job examinations were officially declared selected, and their names were present in the lists; however, Trinamool members took bribes and altered the lists, giving jobs to their own workers instead. Citizens launched major agitations against this. Teachers and people from various professions also staged strong protests.

Trinamool office-bearers and workers who once lived in huts are now residing in huge luxurious mansions. People observed all this silently, but they did not speak out. Had they spoken, they would have become enemies of Trinamool Congress workers. That is why this miracle occurred.

5. Bengali society driven by political thinking

People in Bengal think extensively from a political perspective. This is the biggest problem there. If we analyse the elections in other States, the political environment generated is restricted to the period of elections; once the elections are over the situation subsides. The people of Bengal engage in politics daily. It is like a disease they suffer from.

Earlier, when the CPI(M) was in power, the influence of this politics was even stronger. During CPI(M) rule, people became atheists. When the Trinamool Congress came to power, people again began turning towards Dharma. This time around (2026), people had realised that some change had become absolutely necessary; however, nobody knew about it. They may have discussed it privately among relatives, but they never spoke openly to outsiders. Hence, this miracle appears to have taken place.

6. Violence after the elections in Bengal

One positive thing happened during this election. Before the election, there were no atrocities against women or murders.

Surprisingly, after the election and vote counting, 6 people were murdered. Among them, 4 belonged to the BJP. Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of BJP’s senior leader and Bengal’s new Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari, was travelling in a four-wheeler when attackers surrounded him and fired 10 to 16 bullets at him. He died in the attack and the driver was seriously injured. It appears that professional assassins were involved. In North 24 Parganas, another associate of Shubhendu was shot 3 times, though he survived.

The perspective from which Hindus voted this time is unimaginable. Perhaps Muslim votes were somewhat divided this time as they, too, were dissatisfied.

7. Now strong Hindu unity is the need of the hour

Now the wave of Hindutva must consolidate. People are turning towards Hindutva. Therefore, it is easier to bring them onto the path of Dharma.

  • In Panihati town in South 24 Parganas, fanatic Muslims had opened a biryani shop in a Hindu locality, just like others. Hindus demolished it.
  • In the South 24 Parganas region, a Muslim leader had occupied the luxurious house of a Hindu. It was freed on 7 May.
  • During the Trinamool Congress regime, a Durga temple in Asansol had been shut down; it has now been reopened.

People have turned towards Hindutva. Therefore, they must be united further. Wherever fanatics have occupied Hindu property, every Hindu must show the courage to oppose it, and they are indeed doing so. The winds of Hindutva (displayed through the overwhelming unity of Hindus during elections) should be consolidated further. Greater attention needs to be paid to carrying out this task.

For the Hindus of Bengal, this transformation is ‘Na bhuto na bhavishyati’, meaning something that has never happened before and may never happen again.

I myself am travelling from village to village. It has become evident that in all probability fanatic elements would have established dominance over Hindus. To prevent that, people brought about this change. Bengal has an environment favourable to Hindutva. Therefore, it is necessary to unite people against adharma.

Bengal OBC Quota Reset : Adhikari Government Scraps Mamata-Era List

Sankirtan Das | HENB | Kolkata | May 21, 2026 – In a major overhaul of West Bengal’s reservation framework, the BJP Government led by Shubhendu Adhikari has rolled back the Mamata Banerjee-era Other Backward Classes (OBC) regime, restoring the State’s pre-2010 reservation structure and reducing the total OBC quota from 17% to 7%.

The decision effectively removes more than 100 Muslim communities that had been included in the OBC list during the tenure of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Government headed by Mamata Banerjee. The BJP has described the earlier expansion as an exercise in ‘minority appeasement’, alleging that Hindu OBC communities were deprived of educational, employment, and welfare opportunities under the revised system introduced after 2010.

The new State Government has notified 66 caste groups that existed in West Bengal’s OBC list prior to 2010, while abolishing the Category A and Category B sub-classifications introduced by the TMC Government.
