New Delhi – Iran reportedly charged $2 million (₹17 crore) from a private oil tanker company in exchange for allowing safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, according to a report published by Lloyd’s List. However, the nationality of the vessel has not been disclosed. So far, a total of nine ships from various countries have passed through the Strait after obtaining such permission.
According to the report, Iran has established a “safe corridor” within its maritime territory, through which only authorised vessels are allowed to pass. In return, payments are being extracted from these ships.

He added that negotiating with Iran to resolve the conflict is the best possible solution.
“Even we didn’t inform anyone about Pearl Harbor!”: Trump on Iran Attack

Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi visited the US and met President Donald Trump. When asked by journalists why allied nations were not informed in advance about the February 28 attack on Iran by the US and Israel, Trump responded that no one was informed because they wanted to create an element of surprise. In a light-hearted remark to a Japanese journalist, he said, “Who would know better about surprise attacks than Japan? Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor?” While intended humorously, the comment is being viewed as inappropriate in Japan.
On 7 December 1941, Japan launched a surprise attack on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, killing over 2,400 American soldiers. This led to the US entering World War II, after which atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Sri Lanka denies landing permission to US fighter jets
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake informed Parliament that in early March, permission was denied for two US fighter jets to land at Mattala International Airport. The aircraft, originating from a base in Djibouti, had requested landing clearance on March 4 and 8 and were reportedly equipped with eight anti-ship missiles. Despite various pressures, Sri Lanka has chosen to maintain a neutral stance and has made it clear that it will not yield to external pressure.
