American Hindu leader Purnima Nath expelled by the Republican Party

Purnima Nath

Milwaukee (USA) – Republican Party candidate and staunch Hindutva leader Purnima Nath has been expelled from the Republican party. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin branch of the party has expelled her. Nath told ‘Sanatan Prabhat’, “I was expelled from the party because I stood firm on my principles.” She will file a complaint against this at the State-level party office. The branch, while explaining the action taken against her, stated that Nath’s values do not match the party’s views.

Important questions raised by Purnima Nath

Nath has issued a press release regarding the action taken against her, wherein she states,

1. ‘Freedom of expression, religious freedom, freedom of thought, freedom of conscience, human rights, human dignity, accountability, peace, open debate are my values. I was expelled from the party for standing on these principles.

2. I am a centrist conservative and a candidate for the US Congress from Wisconsin. I have demanded accountability and transparency from our elected officials.

3. If Republican Party, which claims to defend free speech, cannot tolerate internal scrutiny, then something deeper is broken.

4. Are the party structures open to the voices of non-whites, non-Christians, women, immigrants, micro-minorities ? I will not be silenced, I will not be intimidated, I will not be pushed aside.

Editorial Perspective

Leaders of the Republican Party or the Democratic Party in the US, are Christians first, politicians later. If it were not so, Vivek Ramaswamy would not have been vilified for being a Hindu, and leaders like former governors Bobby Jindal and Nikki Haley would not have had to abandon their original Hindu religion and become Christians. One must understand this religious fanaticism in American politics.
