Pakistan’s decision not to play against India in the T-20 Cricket World Cup’s India-Pakistan match was in support of Bangladesh

Information given by Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif

Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in his cabinet meeting that they had taken a clear step regarding the T-20 Cricket World Cup. They would not play the match against India, because there should be no politics in the field of sports. They had taken that decision after careful consideration, and they should stand by Bangladesh. The Prime Minister was sure that the decision was right. The match between India and Pakistan in the T-20 World Cup 2026 was to be held on 15 February. But Pakistan refused to play the match, and PM Sharif gave his official confirmation through the above statement.

Pakistan decided to boycott the match against India to show solidarity with Bangladesh, which had opted out from the T-20 World Cup.

Bangladesh demanded that its matches be played in Sri Lanka instead of India, and that demand was rejected by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Therefore, Bangladesh boycotted the tournament. Pakistan took the above decision to support Bangladesh.

Editorial Perspective

Good riddance ! India plays, despite Indians feeling that it should not play cricket with Pakistan anywhere, even though it was inappropriate. If Pakistan made a decision not to play now, then it is good.
